Hi! My names is Brad and I live in Port Orange, Florida. Port Orange is part of the greater Daytona Beach area. My wife and I are originally from Cortland, NY. We have a daughter who was born in Cortland and a son who was born in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The family has a dog. His name is Pikachu (Peek A Chew). He's a Beagle / Italian Greyhound mix. By now, everyone knows the origin of the name "Pikachu".
Cortland will always be my hometown but it is unlikely it will ever be my home again. Don't get me wrong...Cortland is a great place to raise a family, it's just that I've moved on. Besides, you can't beat the Florida weather.
National Rants and Raves
I wasn't happy to see GW Bush get elected, but since he now leads this country, at least figuratively, then let us support his efforts to be effective.A tax break of some kind is definetely needed. Just don't over do it George. The rich need to have their balls squeezed just a little, so don't propose a tax plan that favors them.
I also like the idea of being able to have a say in how some of my social security taxes are invested. The return on capital could be very nice over the long term. And while we're on the subject, Social Security was meant to be a supplement to retirement income. It was not intended to be the sole source of retirement monies.
And what have the HMO's done for health care? Lowered costs? No. Provided for better care? Nope. Made it damn near impossible to trust the judgement of your doctor? YES! Doctor's are encouraged/forced to keep cost (to the HMO) low, therefore all you get is a look down the throat, palpitation of the abdomen, a light shined in each ear and a prescription. As well as the standard..."This will just have to run it's course".
