History
This online project is a culmination of years of receiving e-mail both from Maryland residents, and nationally, seeking mental health information, education, support, and local resources.
As the Clinical Social Work Chat Host for the National Clinical Social Work chat in the Social Work Forum on America Online, I have seen the benefits received by individuals through the use of Internet mediated communication applications (e-mail, listservs, chatrooms, discussion boards, etc.)
I have received e-mails from abused spouses seeking hotline numbers and "safe houses", children afraid that their parent(s) were becoming abusive, marital partners contemplating divorce, parents with children experiencing emotional problems, potentially suicidal individuals, clinicians and agencies seeking resources, businesses and organizations looking for resources for troubled employeees, and seniors who were isolated and alone.
Mission
The need for a comprehensive Internet-based mental health resource for Marylanders is crucial, and that is the purpose of Maryland Mental Health Online. Our goal is to provide free up-to-date mental health education, information, resources, and referral for Maryland residents
Vision
This goal can only be accomplished through Internet communication among the public, private and non profit sectors. Partners in Mental Health are elected officials, public agencies, non-profit organizations, and Maryland businesses who are making a commitment to this cause, advocating for quality mental health information and resources in Maryland.
Join us today in this effort.
Maryland Mental Health Online would like to thank those who are listed on our Partners in Mental Health page for their public acknowledgement of this need.
