To free up a water valve: (the one that feeds the Heater)
a gentle tap or two with a light hammer on the spring end of the shaft (as if to compress the spring a bit more) generally breaks them loose quickly - it momentarily unseats the ball in the body. (on the 6 cyl car). Bill Bolton HML
