UPDATE: 4-10-08
Brie is doing so well. She appears to bond quickly and very hard to the
male humans in the house. She is living with two male dogs, but comes to
life when a female dog comes to visit. She was penned with females until
coming into rescue, so I suppose that would be natural that she'd feel an
instant bond with them. She's fine with any dogs, but seems to do better with
dogs that are a little more low key. The typical craziness of boxers can be too
much for Brie.
Brie's foster family reports that she is ready to move on to her Forever Home.
Her new family will have to remain consistant with the potty training routine she already
knows. She is perfectly crate trained, but is content to sneak on up to where the family
is hanging out and spending time with them. She would do great with an active family
that likes to go for walks or runs. It seems to calm her anxiety when she's had a good
run or spent time at the dog park.
Brie will be available after April 18th. Her adoption donation is $275.00

UPDATE: 3-15-08
Since Brie has been in her foster home, she has made steady progress.
When working with this kind of dog, it can sometimes seem like they are
not progressing at all, but then you step back and look at the big picture.
This was a dog that just hid in corners, under furniture, in the kennel, under
the deck etc, or ran wildly around the yard in a panic if she were outside.
Just the other day I saw her foster family riding by on the bicycles and Brie
was trotting alongside on a leash just like any other boxer would do. I know
it has helped that she has a very emotionally stable male to help teach her
how to come out of her shell. BUT, we've discussed whether or not Brie would
be better off as an only dog. She seems to bond to animals more than people,
so perhaps, she would be better off as an only, then she'd HAVE to bond with her
humans. Canines have to be part of a pack, so she'd naturally desire to do so with
her family.
Despite her fears, she is so sweet and seems to have a special fondness for men.
I'll continue to update her progress report as her training continues. We have adopted
out dogs from similar situations, so if you have any questions about what to expect, please
contact us.

Brie is a gorgeous flashy fawn female with natural ears and a
cropped tail. She is one and half years old, very gentle and very
sweet. She comes from a breeding operation where she did not
receive much socialization, so she was extremely timid when she
first came into rescue. She is now making great strides in her
foster home. She is learning to walk on a leash and the basic
obedience commands. She is TOO crate trained and will use it as
a hiding place, but it is still a necessary tool for house training.
Brie never lived in a house before coming to rescue, so she had
much to learn. She didn't know how to play with toys or play with
other dogs for that matter. She just ran around in circles in the
yard like a wild animal. In the house she would slink around until
she could find hiding spot. She truly has made remarkable
gains. She is very intelligent, loves children and likes every dog
she's met so far. She is currently fostering with cats, so we'll see
how that progresses. So far so good. Brie has come along nicely
and will be ready for her adoptive home shortly.
