M72 is a 9.2 magnitude globular star cluster in Aquarius. It's found 3.5 degrees due south from 4.7 magnitude Mu (6) Aquarii. A 5.9 magnitude star is 40' west of M72. My drawing is based on a 247X view in the 10-inch Starfinder Newtonian. M72 appears 3' across with a handful of faint 14th magnitude stars resolved. The cluster shows a substantial drop in brightness along the eastern edge. A pair of 10th magnitude stars are about 4' to the east.
