This is another challenging galaxy. NGC 6956 is presented in the sketch at left, which records a 190X view in my 10-inch Starfinder equatorial Newtonian. The galaxy covers a 90"x60" area. Two point sources are discernible. One is visible at the center of the nebulosity and may be the core region of the galaxy. The second is a foreground star listed at 12th magnitude in the GSC. The widely spaced pair of brighter stars north of NGC 6956 are 9th and 10th magnitude, respectively. |
