Artist Statement:
In 1998 I was forced into early retirement due to a near fatal hit-n-run accident. Now I spend my days doing what I love to do, painting art on locally grown grouds. My business experience was focused in the Department of Defense contracting arena as a management analyst. I am the proud Mother of an Army pilot and one daughter. They have given me seven grandchildren. My days are now spent doing what I love to do, painting art on locally grown gourds and working on various art projects. My volunteer work includes helping the elderly and teaching an art class at the Church of Christ Bible Camp in the sping.
If it's warm outside, you'll find me working in my flower garden. After being encouraged by my son, family and friends, I was inspired to design gourd art work. Currently, I have exhibits displayed in the Woodbury, TN Arts Center, Mainstreet Marketplace (Murfreesboro) and Joe's Place. I would like to thank the staff at the Center, Mrs. Wilma Adams, Mrs. Gladys Hayes, Mrs. Louise Melton, Mr. & Mrs. G.L. Tenpenny, Troy & Sharon Odem, Jerry, Lorena & Destin Blackwell, Mr. James Lassiter and Mr. Randy Barrett, owner, Joe's Place. Their kindness and encouragement are greatly appreciated. I thank God for giving me a good life and the opportunity to do this art work. My work is influenced by my Native American heritage and life experiences. Each piece of art work is an original and is signed. The designs take 2-3 days to complete. The birdhouses are waterproof. If you wish to learn about this popular art work, please contact me.
