Kern River Camping Trip
Our Favorite Vacation Spot The Kern River
Lake Isabella, California's best kept secret.  With many activites, including fishing, hiking, camping, skiing, or just relaxing, the lake itself has much to offer.  While the lake is the center of the Kern River Valley, the rest of the area has other interesting sights to see.

The Kern River, with a gradient of 30 feet per mile, the Kern is one of the steepest and wildest rivers in North America. Hosting wildlife and beautiful flowers along it’s shores, it’s cozy campgrounds nestle between the pine trees and peace and quiet can still be found. The river is divided into four sections; Lower-below Isabella Dam, Upper Kern from Johnsondale Bridge to Riverkern Beach, the Forks of the Kern beginning 45 miles north of Kernville and the South fork Isabella Lake feed.
HUNGRY GULCH CAMPGROUND is where we pitched our tents.

Some ideas for easy dinners:

Prepare as much as you can at home before leaving. Saves time when cooking dinner after a day at the lake when everyone is very tired and worn out. One of our favorites is burritos. Cook the meat and beans at home and just reheat and add cheese, put in tortillas and there you have it. Instant dinner.

Lunch:

Sandwiches was our most popular choice and easy too. Or theres always homemade lunchables. Bring Ritz crackers and add lunch meat and cheese. The kids really like that one. The old faithful one is PB&J. No refrigeration needed for that one. And also a favorite of the kids.

Breakfast:

That was an easy one too. Choices were cereal or poptarts. And of coarse for the adluts there is always instant coffee! One of the mornings of coarse we did make a full breakfast including eggs, bacon and sausage.
