Troy and fiancée Rhonda Worthey were among the 2,000 family members, players, friends, and fans, who paid their respects to former Cowboys Coach Tom Landry at a public memorial service this afternoon. Troy was quoted by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: "One of the biggest disappointments in my career will be not getting to play for Coach Landry. He was one of the greatest coaches of all time, and by all accounts an even better person. When my kids and grandkids ask me what it was like to play for Coach Landry, I wish I could tell them." February 13, 2000 - Athlete Direct, America Online. Troy made an off-season visit to Athlete Direct around 7:00 this evening. He answered quite a few posts on his message board, and stopped by the chat room for awhile too. He told the chat room that "it's a sad day for Cowboy fans with the passing of Coach Landry." He said he has been busy during the off-season trying to improve his golf game. He said that he talked to Joey Galloway on Saturday, and Joey is excited about being a Cowboy -- Troy is excited about him BEING a Cowboy. He had hoped to ride his Harley today, but ran out of time. He said he will begin his off-season conditioning on March 1st, and that he will be doing mostly cardio and stretching because he has tapered off from lifting weights over the past couple of years. Here are some of the questions from his message board, and his answers: Will Michael Irvin return to the Dallas Cowboys? February 11, 2000 - Reunion Arena, Dallas, Texas. The Judds, Naomi and Wynonna, performed in concert tonight. At the end of their song "Grandpa," the Judds passed our QB on their way from a makeshift center stage to the main platform. He ended up on the stage with them, where mother and daughter finished the tune. It turns out that Troy's mind was not 100% focused on the concert. Leigh Steinberg, Troy's agent, was in the middle of negotiating a contract between another client, wide receiver Joey Galloway, and the Dallas Cowboys. According to Leigh, at one point Troy was calling him every 20 minutes. "He would say, 'Get it done,' " Leigh said chuckling. "He was at a concert, and one time he told me I was ruining the concert for him." Fortunately for Troy and for us, Leigh got it done, and the Cowboys now have the fastest wide receiver tandem in the League!
