In his weekly column for NFL.com, Troy said, "there is certainly no love lost between these two teams, and I am sure Tampa has revenge on their mind." October 23, 2001 - Be sure to read Tim Cowlishaw's column in the Dallas Morning News: "Jerry's account of Aikman's departure is revisionist history" which discusses the fact that all of a sudden, Jerry Jones has forgotten that he released Troy Aikman a month before Troy decided to retire! October 15, 2001 - Troy joined Brad Sham and Babe Laufenberg in the Dallas Cowboys Radio booth as a guest analyst when the 0-4 Cowboys played at home against the 0-4 Redskins. The Cowboys won 9-7 on a last second field goal by Tim Seder (who had been kicked in the kicking leg by the Cowboys' horse during pregame warmups). Troy was one of many celebrity guests who are helping out on the Cowboys radio broadcasts this season. Before the game, Troy appeared on Dale Hansen's pregame show on WFAA-TV, Dallas. Dale asked Troy whether the Cowboys had paid him all the money they owed him and whether the checks had cleared. When Troy confirmed they had, Dale asked him if he would quarterback for the Cowboys if Jerry Jones asked him to come back. Troy said no. "I think in the current situation that this team is in and what's going on from a directional standpoint, I'm very happy in the booth." October 14, 2001 - Troy, Daryl Johnston, and Dick Stockton are scheduled to call the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Tennessee Titans game for FOX. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m. eastern. October 9, 2001 - Writing in the Dallas Morning News today, columnist Barry Horn states, "Fox has decided that the timing is finally right to assign Troy Aikman and Daryl Johnston to work a Cowboys game. They'll be in the booth for the Cowboys-Giants game on Nov. 4." October 8, 2001 - Read Troy's analysis Aikman's take: Vikings in trouble at NFL.com. October 7, 2001 - Troy, Daryl Johnston, and Dick Stockton are scheduled to call the Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints game for FOX. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m. eastern. October 5, 2001 - The Dallas Morning News reported this morning that Troy has been nominated by an Irving man to carry the torch for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Sean Warden's nomination stated "the Aikman Foundation's motto, helping children one dream at a time, makes Troy a valuable and inspiring asset to our community." Troy will be one of 42 torchbearers from North Texas who will carry the Olympic Torch in Texas from December 10th to 12th, and again on January 12th. September 30, 2001 - Troy, Daryl Johnston, and Dick Stockton are scheduled to call the New Orleans Saints at New York Giants game for FOX. This is the first home game for the Giants following the terrorist attack on New York City, and is certain to be highly emotional for everyone at the stadium and watching on television. September 25, 2001 - Writing in the Dallas Morning News, columnist Barry Horn says, "Already the talk at Fox is that Troy Aikman and Daryl Johnston will be sent their separate ways next season. That's not because they haven't clicked working with play-by-play voice Dick Stockton, but rather to give each more time to shine in a two-man booth. ... The possible lineup if Fox does indeed break up it's No. 1 team: Joe Buck-John Madden; Pat Summerall-Aikman; Dick Stockton-Johnston." September 23, 2001 - Troy, Daryl Johnston, and Dick Stockton are scheduled to call the Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears game for FOX. September 9, 2001 - Troy, Daryl Johnston, and Dick Stockton called the Chicago Bears at Baltimore Ravens game for FOX. Did you happen to catch FOX's "NFL Sunday" pregame show? If you did, then you saw a photograph of Papa Aikman and Papa Johnston holding their newborn daughters...and Troy looking as if he could burst from happiness! September 8, 2001 - In his column today, Dallas Morning News media columnist Barry Horn writes, "The Cowboys' Aikman always sounded guarded, as if he were speaking not only for himself, but also with the burden of the entire organization hanging on his every word. September 6, 2001 - "The surprising thing is the amount of time preparing. I watch more film now than I ever did as a player and I'll probably know more football now than I did as a player," says Troy. "As a quarterback, all I ever watched was defense.
