- Winning quarterback in Super Bowls XXVII, XXVIII, and XXX (one of only three starting quarterbacks in NFL history with at least three Super Bowl victories)
- Named Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XXVII
- Only quarterback in NFL history to win three out of four Super Bowls
- Led Cowboys to four consecutive NFC championship games - 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995 seasons (with victories in 1992, 1993, and 1995)
- Winningest quarterback of any decade in NFL history - 90 victories in the 90s (Joe Montana had 86 victories in the 80s and Roger Staubach had 84 victories in the 70s)

- Troy finished his pro career ranked 19th by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the category of Leading Lifetime Passers in NFL history, with a career quarterback rating of 81.6
- Troy finished his pro career with the 4th highest completion percentage all-time among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 attempts (61.5%). Steve Young is first (64.3%), Joe Montana is second (63.2%), and Brad Johnson is third (61.8%). Of these four, Johnson is the only one still active.
- One of only three players in Cowboys history to have played in a Cowboys uniform in three different decades: 1980s, 1990s and 2000s (D.D. Lewis, who played in the 60s, 70s, and 80s and Mark Stepnoski are the other two)
