Once again I’d like to thank Danny Kapuscinski for all the hard work and time involved in putting together his top 50 super modified drivers of 2006. It’s always interesting every year and thought it’d be cool again to not only have a permemant place for Danny’s writing, but thought that it’d be sharp for everyone to actually be able to see who these drivers are and the supermodifieds they have had their successes with the past season. Once again this year, I was able to use a lot of my own photos from the super modified races I’ve attended, but for a total recap, it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of a lot of others! Lou Anne McKeefrey from the ASA Supermodified series helped out out a ton with getting photos and the word out for those shots that the east coast zoom lense just couldn’t get in sight along with Jim Davidson from www.supermodfiedscorecard.com. , Rick from the ERA Supermodifieds, Rob Rodier from Lane Racing and all those who are listed under each photo the helped with. Without everyone coming together, this recap would not have been possible and just wanted to send a big thanks to everyone for lending a hand!

#1 Chris Perley (ISMA): 900 pts.
Last Year: #1
Who else would be on top of the list in 2006? For the second year in a row, Chris Perley is the Top50 National Supermodified Driver of the Year. The "Rowley Rocket" only won 10 of 17 ISMA features in 2006, including 6 in a row from June 17 to July 29, on his way to yet another ISMA crown in the Vic Miller #11. In Classic events, Perley took the checkered flag in both legs of the Hy-Miler Weekend in Sandusky, finished 4th in the Star Classic, and was qualified for the Oswego Classic in a Furlong entry but unfortunately left town before the green due to the terrible Classic Weekend weather. Perley also set fast time in Star and Sandusky Classic time trials. Perley ended his dominant campaign with 10 feature wins, and 14 top5 finishes in 17 ISMA features.
