Welcome to my Web site! My name is Nikki and I live in Arlington, VA. I have one husband named Dean who is a generous grouch, 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 2 wonderful Siamese cats named Sunny and Cher. (No, it's not "Sonny"). After my two 20 year old Siamese cats, Harry Chapin and Punkin, died in Feb and March 2000, my house felt very empty until April 29th. Three month old Sunny and Cher filled the hole that was in my heart. May - June 2000: Sunny Cher Sunny and Cher
TV time with Sunny and Cher - December 2000
They're bringing laughter and immense joy to Dean and I. You can see cat toilet humor on my other website at the bottom of the Cat Projects page: http://hometown.aol.com/harichapin ************************* I enjoy machine embroidery and share this wonderful hobby with sewists from all over the world on various sewing digests. Not only do we share our love of sewing, but our personalities, our successes and we laugh at our failures. On my Web site, I have free designs. You may use them on personal items and on items for sale, but may not use them in a collection or sell the design itself in any form. I primarily machine embroider on t-shirts, sweatshirts and hand towels. I will be adding projects that I've enjoyed doing. I prefer the whimsical and combination designs that make people smile. Since I rarely do the same garment twice, my friends tell me they enjoy the compliments they receive on their "originals". You can see my cat shirt designs at: http://hometown.aol.com/harichapin and other projects with free downloads at: http://hometown.aol.com/iamkutiepatootie/SpecialProjects.htm ************************* A very sweet friend, Rita Marsh, made this sewing machine cover for my Singer XL1000 due to its strange shape with the embroidery unit on. I'm so proud of it ... didn't she do a wonderful job? (Click on pic for larger view). ************************* Susy Hanson and I were supposed to meet in Augusta, GA in September. Due to the Sept 11th tragedy, we didn't get to meet in person, but we did exchange gifts via mail. Susy made the following sewing mat with 6 pockets and a scrap catcher. The scrap catcher is wonderful for all my thread ends -no more broken belts in my vacuum cleaner from clogged thread pieces - (nor thread in the mouths of Sunny and Cher). From Susy: "These instructions come courtesy of Jo Lassiter, a Janome dealer, quilter and teacher par excellence!"
Pic taken above bag (it's full of thread now) :-) There's also a pin cushion glued to the covered tile which holds the scrap catcher onto the table.
Proximity of mat & bag between my Janome and Singer machines. You can download the instructions below. Please don't forget to thank Susy Hanson and Jo Lassiter (their email addy is in the instructions) for these wonderful projects. ************************* So, get your cup of coffee and come on in. I hope you enjoy your stay.
My thanks to my new friend "Murf" for my buttons.
