Some funny thoughts

Jewish Identity. I grew up Orthodox and had a normal suburban Jewish life in the US. click here for more on Bob's Jewish life When did you come to faith and through what agency? Bob: My book goes into many more details, but here's the short version... It was 1971. It wasn't that I needed more religion. I had plenty, thank you very much. It was that I wanted meaning and relevance in my life. As hippies, we cared about Truth and Meaning enough to cash in most of our chips to get it... if only we could! I dropped out of Washington University in 1970 and spent the next few months being a wandering Jew...out on the highways, hitchhiking and meeting all kinds of people across the US... some who seemed to have it together, and others who very much did NOT. Two "Jesus people" were witnessing on the streets in Kansas City by the Nelson Art Gallery. I listened to them.... went back where I was staying and began to read the Newer Testament for myself.... it's true... no, it's more than that... It's the Truth. And Jesus was the man of peace and love, the man of meaning and relevance. Wow...how could I believe this? I'm Jewish, and Jews don't believe in Jesus, but here I was, emotionally connecting to a person I'd always considered pagan or at least not-Jewish. Jesus was very clearly someone with whom I had to deal. And I was believing in Him! Not everyone liked my new decision to follow Jesus as the Jewish Messiah. But then, who said Truth came with majority approval? There's biblical evidence as well, but that's a question you can ask me about later. A friend wrote some things about Jesus that might help.
