Remember America Square

This square is in memory of those that died on the 4 planes, in the 2 towers of the WTC and the Pentagon. It also shows our unity as a nation. There are 3 colors to represent the 2 towers and the Pentagon building victims done in the colors of our nation. Each color has 4 rows to represent the victims that died on the 4 planes. The last row of blue has 50 white double crochets spaced evenly representing our 50 states that stand united in this great tradegy. That we may gain strength and that our love for each other will always shine through!

Each square measures 12 inches and is crochet with an F or G hook or size needed and worsted weight yarn. It is done in the granny square design except last row of blue is all done in double crochets.

Directions:

Square is basic granny square of 11 rows and a double crochet row for a total of 12 rows.

Changing Colors: Work the last sc (or dc) to within one step of completion, drop yarn, hook new yarn and draw through both loop on hook. Cut old yarn and work over it as you crochet with new yarn.

Ending rounds- you will always end your round by chaining 1 and sc in top of beginning chain 3 which keeps all your color changes and round in the corner making it easier to do as you don't need to slip stitch to next space this way.
