1969 was one of the years that they made the fewest convertibles and this is a fine example. It has a white top and black interior and he has been on most of the tours the club has run. He is beginning to show it more often and is thinking of going to the styled steel wheels that they used in 1969.

Jerry's Mustang is a 1969 Jade Green convertible. It has a black interior and a 302-2v automatic with power steering. He has radial tires on it with origional hubcaps. This is my favorite color green and a very rare color to have on a 1969 convertible. He has a white convertible top and the car is undergoing a complete restoration at this time. This was the last show for it before it went in for the restoration. Jerry has owned several fine Fords over the years including a Model T. He also owned a Cleveland engined Cougar that he purchased new in the early 70's.

This is a picture of Jerry at the Bloomfield show. He was in a tough class with several red convertibles but he did well. I will have pictures soon of the restoration project on this car. It has been ongoing now for a month. He will ride along with me on the Minnesota tour since his car will be "in the shop" this fall and winter. As you can see in the background they had a bunch of fine Fords at the show this year and they really put on a good show.

Jerry just began a full restoration of the car a few weeks ago and we will have pictures of it soon. This is the first time it will be restored. That will include new fenders, door skins, floor pans, and quarters. He also plans on new carpet and all the items to make it a number 1 car for shows. This summer he put a bunch of miles on it before the big restoration.

Here is the Mustang in a rare pose. Normally he has the top down riding around Pella. Even on tours he rides along with the top down, windows up and the heat on if he needs it. This car was a daily driver for a number of years.

This is a picture of Jerry's 1969 Mustang convertible. Here he carries the queen of the Knoxville nationals parade. He generally gets the queen because he used to live in Knoxville and knows the folks there. The Mustang has duals and a 302-2v automatic. It has power steering and a new stereo with a new speaker system he just put in.

This summer I was out in my 1964 1/2 putting some miles on it and we met below the dam. We talked for a while and he went to start it and had a carb fire because the float stuck. My fire extinguisher wouldn't work so we used a blanket I had covering my seat and put out the fire. All the fire did was carb and air cleaner damage and bubbled a spot on his hood. I was glad I helped "save" another Mustang! Since then he has had everything fixed and the paint on the hood will be redone when the restoration is complete.

This is a picture of Jerry's '69 sitting in the shop last month undergoing restoration. They removed everything and began taking the car apart. He is having it done at the dealership where he works and is doing it up right. A full restoration fixing all the rust and repairing everything and then detailing everything to get it in perfect shape for the future. You would have thought that seeing my Mustang in all those pieces would have put him off to doing it but he jumped when he had the chance! It is a scary thing to see your Mustang in hundreds of pieces with the finish date months away.

Here is a picture of the interior showing the cutting out of rusted areas and replacement. I had no idea that this Iowa car had so much damage from the elements but it is 30 years old. The unibodies stand up pretty good but if they are driven in the winter much (and this car had been) they need the full make over. This is the only way to insure that they are safe and solid
