Samuel Bridges was born 1799 in Rutherford County North Carolina and died about 1842 in Mississippi. He married Nancy Tatum about 1827, most likely in Franklin County Tennessee before heading west.

- Parham Plummer - born 15 February 1829 in Simpson County Mississippi, died 10 October 1886 in Oak Grove, Sabine Parish Louisiana, married first Penelope P. Thompson the 21st of August, 1849, probably in Simpson County Mississippi. He married second Mrs. Martha Jackson Tanner on 19 July 1877 in Sabine Parish Louisiana
- Caroline - born about 1832 in Simpson County Mississippi, died about 1852, married William F. Rhymes about 1850
- Palatine Tatum - born 4 October 1833 in Copiah County Mississippi, died 12 September 1924, buried Spring Ridge Cemetery Louisiana, married John L. Bell the 17th of April, 1849 in Simpson County Mississippi
- Mary - nothing is known of this child
- James M. - born 1839, died August of 1864
After the death of Samuel Bridges, widow Nancy Tatum Bridges married second William H. Davis in 1847, and third, Richmond Bennett in 1858.
