An Open Letter to My Dear Sister....

written two days after Carrie died

Dear Carrie,
I write this letter for two reasons. To say "thank you" and "good bye".
I am enclosing a small gift for you. It is a favorite musical CD of mine. When I hear these songs I will know that you are singing for me in Heaven, leading a chorus of other Angels.

Over the past few days I have come to realize that the tears I have cried were not of pain or sorrow but tears of joy and happiness. For I realized you have not left me but left me a "gift" that resides in my heart. Your gift of love.

I thank you. For I know your gift of love will help me to:
Draw strength when I need to be strong...
Draw courage when I need to be brave...
Draw love when I need to be kind, understanding
and forgiving...

But to truly appreciate a gift is to use it wisely and to share
with others. I pledge to you in deeds and actions to use your
gift everyday to:
Be a better brother to my brother & sister...
Be a better son to mom & dad...
Be a better husband to my wife...
Be a better daddy to my children...
And to be a better friend to friends and to those who
will become friends....
