I would like to share here photos of some of my favourite subjects or places. Many were taken during my travels far from home, but others, from right here in my own part of the world.

Costa Rica is one of my favourite birding destinations, but the attractions are not limited to birds. These are some "moments in time" captured in that beautiful, wild country:

This is one of two Green Vine Snakes, which were exploring the shrubs beside our verandah at Selve Verde Lodge, shortly after a rainfall. A water droplet can be seen neatly balanced on this snake's nose.

I got very close to this Poison Dart Frog, on the grounds of Selve Verde Lodge, near Puerto Viejo. It was so humid that my glasses fogged up and it made photography a real challenge.

This unfortunate Little Hermit was found with its beak stuck in the screening at the Happy Rana lodge near Guapiles. It flew off, happy to be free, after I had taken a couple of shots.

This Basilisk Lizard (Jesus Christ Lizard) at Happy Rana Lodge found it difficult to keep its grip as the rain came down harder. Eventually, and you can sense the struggle in the second photo, it either let go or fell, and slipped through the foliage about ten feet to the ground.
