My rocketry career started in 1967, when my big brother brought a 1966 Estes catalog home.I was in third grade at a the time. While my brother built an Astron Skyhook, I sent for an Astron Sprite. The Skyhook flew great, The Sprite was "Destroyed in testing" on the living room rug. Never the less, I was "hooked". My first Successful model was the Astron Alpha. I continued to build and fly Estes rockets until high school when other things caught my attention. When my boys were born though, well, I had to entertain them somehow! Now I'm a BAR. One of my first High power scratch built rockets was an upscaled Astron Skyhook, to honor the rocket that got me "hooked"!
My upscaled Astron Skyhook next to an original Astron Skyhook.Sorry about the blob on the kids face, but I didn't have his parents permision to use his image. Make sure you check the next page to see what's new!
Now! NAR Level 2!
Clear and Present Danger, My NAR Level 2 project, flew on a Hypertek J205 Hybrid to an altitude of 1,976 feet.
