What's New at Bucksteps Boxers

2007

Ria (Boston) "Falconcrag Snuff 'N' Nonsense At Bucksteps"produced three huge fat babies on the 30th March. Two males, "Bucksteps Bib 'N' Tucker" and "Bucksteps Bag 'N' Baggage", and one female "Bucksteps Balalaika" (Laika). The sire is "Donmar Limited Edition" who is owned by Mrs Mary Tory. Laika will be staying here at Bucksteps with us and we hope to show her when she is old enough. More news about her in the future.

Laika qualified for Crufts at her first Championship Show, we are very pleased with her progress. Wow !, Boston puppies are not as easy as Boxers,  they are so full of mischief I thought Boxers were lively but they are "pussy cats" compared to Bostons.

In October Ella produced five beautiful Boxer babies, four boys and one girl, lovely puppies, she is very proud of them, and she is a wonderful mother.

2006

In June Ria, "Falconcrag Snuff & Nonsense" came to join us at Bucksteps, Ria is a "BOSTON TERRIER" A big change for us and the Boxers, Ria is 2 years old and we did worry how she would settle in with us and the BIG dogs, but we needn't to have worried as we have all fallen in love with her, the Boxers think she is great and the feeling appears to be mutual, We hope to show her, and maybe sometime in the future have some lovely little Boston puppies.

August 3rd. Peggy  "Bucksteps Off The Peg" whelped six lovely healthy brindle puppies, 2 flashy dogs, 1 solid dog and 3 flashy bitches, the sire was "Socotra Here Comes The Night At Holzar" ( a Todd son out of a Charlie daughter) Peggy was an excellent mum and all went well.

The 7th. of September was a very sad day, "Ch. Bucksteps Bittersweet" Phoebe to all her friends had to be put to sleep. She had not been very well for a week or two, she had recovered from Bloat on a couple of occasions, but then we discovered that she had a large "mass" on her liver, we could not let her suffer so had to make the final dreadful decision to let her go, she was almost 14 years old. We never get used to the heartbreak of losing an old and much loved friend.

Zara "Ch Bucksteps Broderie Anglaise" is 9 years old on the 28th November, how time flies.

Ella is now almost 18 months old, no longer a puppy, but nobody seems to have told her !!

2005

Don't know what happened to this year!, it went so fast. We started off very well with a wonderful two week cruise in the Caribbean where I spent my 66 birthday, all birthdays should be like that.

On the 14th February "Bucksteps Bridget Jones" produced four puppies by " Designer Game At Glenauld", two flashy brindle and white bitches and two white boys.

In August, at the tender age of 7 weeks, Ella, "Socotra Come Fly With Me" came to us from Annette Strachan-Abel. She has settled into the family very well, and although she is remodeling the kitchen furniture, and "helping" in the garden, we still love her.

On the 7th. December our newest little Granddaughter, Madeleine Elisabeth (Maddie) arrived,  she is the daughter of our youngest son Adam and his wife Samantha, and a sister for Zac. She is absolutely beautiful, but maybe I am a little biased  !!.

Phoebe had her 13th birthday on the 12th. December, she is in great form, still enjoying her walks with our other two every day, she really is quite remarkable.

We managed to finish the extention to the house on Christmas Eve, which was cutting it a bit fine.

2004

MARCH

Zara had a lovely litter of five puppies by "Roamaro Rough Diamond" who is a son of our "Ch. Charlie Brown" and "Ch. Roamaro Diamond Lil". We let the best bitch "Bucksteps Taylor Maid" go to Jo Williams (Fairhope Boxers) to be shown, she is a very promising puppy, maybe she will let me handle her occasionly.  I hope to put up a photo of her on the puppy page soon.

At long last Peter retired at the end of March,  so in May  we went on a short cruise in the Mediterranean  to celebrate his freedom (I think I am going to enjoy this life).

I had a few days in Scotland playing golf with some of my golfing buddies, we had a great time and this seems to becoming a yearly event. Peter stayed home to look after the dogs !!!

NOVEMBER.

Zara has produced us 2 lovely little girls, the sire is "Designer Game At Glenauld". We have one flashy brindle bitch "Bucksteps Haute Couture"(Stella) , and one solid brindle bitch "Bucksteps Off The Peg" (Peggy). Peggy will be staying with us, hopefully to carry on the Bucksteps lines. This is Zara's last litter and she is really enjoying them, she thinks all litters should just be "twins".

DECEMBER.

This was a very sad month, Charlie died on the 31st. December, he was was 12 years and nine months old. A wonderful dog in every way, he was so good natured, both with people and other dogs, our grandchildren loved him and we all miss him, there will never be another "Charlie Brown".
