(and Alumni) friends as DJs David and Kim Scott provides music for your
dancing pleasure. You'll also enjoy sumptuous heavy hors d'ouevres,
spirits of the season (including champagne) and plenty of soft drinks and
other non-alcoholic beverages. Please reserve in advance as attendance at
the Oaks Community Center is limited to 130. Party dress for ladies, coat
and tie for gentlemen (black tie preferred). Member prices are for all
Federation* members with verifiable membership. Call Jim or Charlene

DIRECTIONS to the OAKS COMMUNITY CENTER, 5708 OAK
LEATHER DRIVE, BURKE, VA:
From points west of Burke, use
Route 123 (Ox Road). From Route 123, turn east on Burke Center Parkway.
Turn right at the 2nd traffic light (Oak Leather Drive). The Oaks
Community Center is 1.5 blocks down on the right side. From points east of
Burke, use Shirley Highway (Route 395), 495, or 95 - Take the
Springfield/Route 644 West exit. Go west on Old Keene Mill Road
approximately 8 miles to Lee Chapel Road. Turn right onto Lee Chapel; at
the next traffic light, this road becomes Burke Center Parkway. Continue
on Burke Center Parkway until you get to the 6th traffic light. Turn left
onto Oak Leather Drive. The Oaks Community Center is 1.5 blocks down on
the right side.

your newsletter for the reservation form or send a check (see below) and
your PRINTED first and last names, telephone number and Federation*
affiliation to:
Burke Singles, P.O. Box 102, Burke VA 22009-0102.
Prices are $30.00 (members); $35.00 (non-members).
If we don't receive your check by the 29th, we can't
guarantee your name will make it to the guest list. At the door, provided
there is still room, the cost will be $40 for members, $45 for
non-members. Without confirmed reservations, provided there is room,
you'll be able to attend but will pay the higher price. Any appropriate
refund (because a reservation is later confirmed) will be made by January
15. Prior to the event, cancellations will be accepted until December 20th
(full refund). After that date, refunds will be made only if another
person purchases your reservation.

BRIDGE
CLASS FOR BEGINNERS/RUSTY PLAYERS.Always wanted to learn the game of
bridge? Want to learn the "new bridge" technicques?
ABCL-certified Dave McIntyre will lead us in four sessions of class plus
playing time. Starting the second week in January, the group will meet
weekly on Friday's at Lu's home in Fairfax. A beginner's duplicate bridge
night and classes on conventions are also being scheduled. Call Carol M or
Lu direct if you're interested. Cost is $10/session (payable in advance
for four sessions); $2 for snacks and beverages. Drop-ins are welcome
(class limit 16) at $12/night. We need a minimum of eight players who have
payed in advance to make this a go.
**SATURDAY, JANUARY 15, 2000, 7-11 PM.
MILLENNIUM TENNIS Tonight, BURKE SINGLES is
sponsoring Burke Racquet and Tennis Club's 2000 Winter Tennis Social this
date. Open to Federation members. Enjoy fun, food, four hours of mixed
doubles tennis, games and prizes all for $10.00 and a dish, snack
or appetizer to share. Paper goods and soft drinks provided. BYOB at this
writing as we see the numbers responding, we'll fine-tune our
plans. The event is limited to forty participants and will be open to BRTC
club members as well so it's important to respond quickly. Call BRTC
Tennis Director Paul Fisher at 250-1299 or 503-9337 to sign-up and give
him your rating so he can pair you with participants of similar skills.
Call Lu at 978-6158 if you'd like to help in organizing what we hope will
become an annual event.

SEVEN SPRINGS SKI TRIP - SINGLES AT
MESSIAH **FRIDAY- SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4- 6, 2000 There may still
be room on the Singles @ Messiah Seven Springs Ski Trip. The weekend
package for this annual event includes round-trip, non-smoking, bus
transportation from Rtes 50 & 495, two nights' lodging in Main Lodge
at slopes, all lift tickets for two days of skiing lift tickets for night
skiing, unlimited use of indoor pool, two hearty buffet breakfasts, one
lavish smorgasbord dinner, Cocktail/Social Hour-Cash Bar w/ discounted
drinks all taxes and gratuities, discounts on rentals and lessons,
complimentary overnight ski check. Various rates from $235 (four to a
room) to $277 (double). Child rates available. For slope view, pending
availability, add $10 per adult. $50 deposit per person; balance due
