Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Abie, Nebraska
The original Pavel families (John Pavel Sr., John Pavel Jr., Joseph, and Matej) and many of their descendents are buried in this cemetery. The problem with researching the descendents of the Pavel families was that John Pavel Jr., Joseph and Matej all had children named John, Joseph, Vaclav (James) Mary or Anne. Also there were many name changes along the way such as Matej who was also known as Matt and Mathew. Then other children changed their names so they could be distinguished from their cousins who had the same name.

The cemetery is located several miles north of Abie, Nebraska. This is a catholic cemetery where many early Bohemia settlers are buried. The first picture shows the entrance to the cemetery. The next picture shows the tombstone for John Pavel Jr and his wife Josephine. This tombstone is located toward the back of the cemetery and is very prominent.
The third picture shows the tombstone of Joseph and his wife Marie. The tombstones for John Pavel Sr and his wife Anna are shown in front. These tombstones were hard to read. There are also many other Pavel family descendants buried nearby.
