She participated in various choir/ensembles: University Chorus(Granville Oldham, Shaun Amos), Latin Jazz Ensemble (Dan Sabanovich), World Music Choir (Baomi Butts-Bhanji, Kelly Takunda Orphan Martinez, Greg Murai, Claudia Villella), and also took various music theory/performance classes. She has taken voice lessons mainly with Shelly Franklin Rose, voice/piano lessons with Lorna Emata Goodwin, and some voice lessons with Badiene Magaziner (NY) and Seth Riggs (L.A.). She has performed in local musicals, attended classes through AMTSJ, taken private lessons with Julie Arbagey (alumni of SCU) on musical theatre, and taken acting classes/workshop with Shelley Mitchell in San Francisco. She has also attended the 2007 SLS Vocal Camp in Los Angeles as a teacher and student and the 2008 SLS Voice Teacher Conference. She performed an original song at Mission City Roasting Company in Santa Clara, CA.
She studied piano with Sister Abejo and at the Dominican Sisters School of Music with Sister Andre' Marie.
She has taught at Kids N' Keyboards, Warm Springs Community Center, Joyful Melodies, and Recreation USA.
Currently, she teaches not just piano but voice - in music you are always learning and growing as Seth once told her.
For more info. about Voice Teacher Seth Riggs, check out www.sethriggs.com. This is Cynthia's 2nd year as a Level 1 Speech Level Singing Instructor. She has been taught about Speech Level Singing lessons since 1996 as a voice student and now as a voice teacher.
She also took painting lessons with Bruni - and as a child it was her first exposure to art and also jazz music which was always played in the art studio. "I was so drawn to a certain painting of Miles Davis." - Bruni really captures the soul and essence of the person she paints.
