Unlike many other diseases, you have warning and time to get your affairs in order. Don Jones took full advantage of this and prepared instructions on everything from Life Insurance to maintenence of his vehicle. This has made life much more bearable for his wife since he passed away. Whether you are a Carcinoid patient or not, we suggest that you do the same for your family. |

 July 28, 1939 - March 29, 2008 Ted Crump, of Maryland, succumbed due to complications from his aggresseve Carcinoid cancer. A graduate of Idaho State University (B.A., Political Science), the U.S. Army Defense Language Institute (Russian language), and the University of Utah (M.A., Russian), Ted had a long and distinguished career as head translator for the National Institutes of Health Library in Bethesda, MD. He was a published author and cartoonist, and greatly revered professionally and personally by his colleagues. A music lover his entire life, Ted was an accomplished bass-baritone and performed in several venues in the Washington, DC area. He leaves behind his wife Natasha; three sisters; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a host of friends. Click here to learn more about Ted and his journey through life. |

 1945 - Sept. 16, 2007 Bob DeGroot, of Maryland, succumbed due to complications from a treatment for Carcinoid cancer. Bob was a 1962 graduate of the US Naval Acadamy. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Carolyn Theisen DeGroot; his mother, Elizabeth Violet Spade; two daughters, Kimberly Harrell and Nicole Halkyard; and four grandchildren.  Nov. 10, 1934 - Aug. 18, 2007 Gloria Guadagno, wife of Peter Guadagno, passed away on Saturday, August 18th. Gloria joined our group several years ago and was an active participant in most meetings and group events. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007 at the Immanual Bible Church in Springfield, VA.  ---- - April 8, 2007 Marjorie Biersner, wife of Robert J. Biersner, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2007. Marjorie joined our group recently and attended only one meeting before being hospitalized for her carcinoid tumors. She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Biersner of Silver Springs, MD, two daughters Lauren Everhart and Brenda Bonazelli and 3 grandchildren Kenneth Woodruff, Jr., Kassandra Everhart and Gina Bonazelli.  1949 - Feb. 13, 2007 Liz Hollenbach, wife of the late Bob Hollenbach, passed away on Tuesday, February 13th. Liz joined our group several years ago; She lived close by and opened her lovely home on several occasions for CACS social events. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007.  May 31, 1959 - Oct. 27, 2006 Susan Spillman, wife of Bob Hogan, passed away on Friday, October 27th. Susan and Bob joined our group about two years ago; they lived in Hagerstown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at St. Ann Catholic Church.  September 18, 1938 - June 21, 2006 Larry Chinnery, of Rockville, MD, succumbed to Carcinoid cancer after a 30 year battle with the disease. Larry was a 2 tour Vietnam Veteran. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Saint James Episcopal Church in Potomac, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, www.carcinoid.org.  Oct. 2, 1956 - Feb. 10, 2005 Mark Redfern, of Herndon, VA, succumbed to Carcinoid cancer after a relativly short battle with the disease. Mark was a veteran and was buried with military honors at Chesnut Grove Cemetary in Herndon. He is survived by his wife, Sally, two children and a number of other relatives.  ---- - May 5, 2004 Myron Yourshaw, of Falls Church, VA, succumbed to Carcinoid cancer after a long battle with the disease. Myron was a veteran and is buried at Arlington National Cemetary. He is survived by his wife, Therese, five children and a number of other relatives. |

 1929 - April 16, 2004 Claude Oliver, of Great Falls, VA, succumbed to Carcinoid cancer after a long battle with the disease. CLaude was an veteran and is buried at Quantico National Cemetary. He was a director of the CACS. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, three children and several other relatives. |

 1932 - September 1, 2003 Mickey hails from Greensboro, NC and is buried there. Mickey was a graduate of UNC in Greensboro, NC and soon after college worked on Capital Hill for Sen. Scott and later Sen. Al Gore Sr. After raising her children she worked at National Presbyterian School and also volunteered for several Washington, DC area charities. She had dificulty from the beginning with appetite and eating and her Carcinoid disease did not respond well treatment. She is survived by her husband, three children, two grandchildren and a brother and a sister. |

 April 9, 1960 - August 15, 2003 Jen was born in Glasgow, Scotland and spent her youth in Colorado. She was diagnosed in July 2002 with atypical, aggressive Carcinoid tumors and consulted with and was treated by several of the formost National Carcinoid experts. Her Carcinoid disease did not respond well to any treatment and she sucuumbed to it after a year's fight. Click here to learn more about Jen and her journey through life. |

 1933 - May 1, 2003 Jeanette of Alexandria, VA and formerly of Huntington, WV succumbed to Carcinoid cancer after a two and a half month hospital stay. She is survived by one son, two daughters and a sister. |

 May 2, 1962 - February 18, 2003 Major Vincent Lombardi, XO of 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment (Geronimo!), Ft Rich, Alaska 99501 died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003 of carcinoid disease / cancer in his liver & pancreas. His family and close friends were at his side. Ranger and Life Member of the US Army Ranger Association (USARA), Vince recently moved to Washington, DC with his wife, son and daughter to be near Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he recieved treatment.  February 20, 1936 - February 1, 2003 Bob was born in East Liverpool, OH and spent most of his life involved with ocean related pursuits. He was diagnosed in 1999 with Carcinoid liver metasteses and consulted with and was treated by one of the formost National Carcinoid experts. Like many Carcinoid patients he succumbed not to the Cancer itself but to other ailments that were caused by the Carcinoid tumors.  1939 - December 3, 2002 Bob was born in Pittsburg, PA and enjoyed an illustrious career in public relations as a writer, speechwriter and editor. His Carcinoid journey began in August of 1998, when he was diagnosed with Carcinoid Cancer.  ... - Sept.25, 2002 "Vickie" lost her battle with Carcinoid Cancer on Wednesday, September 25, 2002. Beloved daughter of the late William C. and Mary Mattison; step-daughter of Ann Mattison; cherished sister of William, Andrew, Laure, Carolyn, Marian and Amy. She was Director of Corporate Development at Fannie Mae. She was also a Director of the Capital Area Carcinoid Survivors. |

 Dec. 2, 1931 - August 19, 2002 "Kay" was born on Dec 2, 1931 in Cambridge, MA. Her Carcinoid journey began in December of 2001, when she was diagnosed with Carcinoid Cancer. Her atypical Carcinoid was very agressive and she lost her battle with it in August of 2002. Click here to learn more about "Kay". |

 1925 - June 17, 2002 "Mickey" was a native of Akron, Ohio but has been in the Washington, DC area since the 1950s. She led a very productive life as a researcher for National Geographic and others and even has an Emmy Award to her credit. Her battle with Carcinoid Cancer ended in June of 2002.  June 30, 1953 - January 25, 2002 "Don" was born on June 30, 1953 in Washington, DC. His Carcinoid journey began in December of 1999, when he was diagnosed with Carcinoid Cancer. His atypical Carcinoid did not respond to Sandostatin, chemo or any other therapy that was tried and lost his fight after two years in January of 2002. Click here to learn more about "Don". |
