This wild ride is #10 of what is believed of only 36 built. Not a car with an aftermarket turbo kit or a Callaway kitted car, this authorized limited edition is an original "C1" by Callaway Cars in Old Lyme, CT. Fully warrantied by Callaway and sold exclusively by select VW dealers on the east coast. At a cost of nearly $17,000 in 1982, there is no wonder so few were sold.

Suspension: Callaway option ATS Cup wheels with Pirelli 195/50/15, Neuspeed Sofsport springs, Koni adjustables, Bonrath strut bearings, urethane shock mounts and suspension bushings, upper stress bar with Callaway lower stress/sway bar combo, rear sway bar, Neuspeed weighted short shifter.

Old skool technology...1.7 liter, turbocharged @14psi, intercooled, fuel injected, Audi CPR, HKS blow off valve, HKS AIC(this replaces the Callaway Mircofueler...since all the circuit boards are rotted), Neuspeed throttle body, euro curved distributor with dual port vacuum advance, oil cooler, K&N filtercharger in a modified airbox, high volume oil pump, Techtonics 2.25" cat back exhaust system.

This gives you an idea of the condition of the car when it showed up at my door. I knew at that point it was going to be an expensive restoration. This car was never repaired properly, just continually rigged up for 17 years just to keep it running. Nothing worked and it was completely run into the ground.
