Siberian Cats of Captive Heart Siberian Forest Cats
The Siberian Breeders :
I became interested in the Siberian Forest Cat breed in year 2000 while looking for the ideal cat for our family. Having five children, some still young and already living with some pets, I absolutely needed to be positive that our new kitty would fit in. After educating myself about the Siberian Cat breed from Russia, I was so taken with it's wonderful qualities that I wanted to be a positive force in the promotion of Siberian Cats. We're proud to say we have "THE FIRST  REGISTERED SIBERIAN CATTERY IN THE STATE OF OHIO!"  Having great respect for this natural breed and ideally wanting to keep it as authentic as possible, I made the decision to breed the original TRADITONAL AND CLASSIC SIBERIANS  because I fervently believe this to be the way to both preserve and promote this magnificent breed.
Breeding was second nature for me having grown up in a rural area raised along side a variety of animals practically since birth. As I grew, so did my love for God's innocent creatures. So impassioned was I, that I zealously brought home any stray that crossed my path and a few extra creatures that I decided needed to live at my home. It's a good thing that we lived in the country and that my family loves animals as much as I do, because our yard had all the makings of a petting zoo with all my loves - including fish, hamsters, chickens, ducks, geese, a couple of goats, dogs, cats and more. As a child I dreamed of becoming a Veterinarian, so playtime consisted of my practicing exams and bandaging skills on my pet companions. Occasionally dressing up my sweetly obliging fur loves in my Doll's clothes, pretending they were my assistants or just taking them for a stroll in a carriage. When I became older my desire to help animals inspired me to do some volunteer work for a couple of local shelters and rescues. Breeding is a family tradition. In my youth my parents had been hobby breeders of German Short Haired Pointers and Toy Poodles. I feel lucky to have been privy to their vast breeding knowledge and experience. It was a tremendous help to have their mentoring when I was starting. One of my older daughters has followed in our footsteps, becoming a third generation breeder. She is a hobby breeder of Savannahs. My devotion to animals rubbed off on her. Even though she is a gifted artist, her love for animals is so deep, that she passed on an art scholarship to be able to dedicate the majority of her time in service to them. She is a Veterinary assistant and pursues her artistic talents in her free time with her furry friends close by.
We are hobby breeders located in Northeastern Ohio. Our cats and Siberian kittens live with us in our home as members of the family, in a cat friendly atmosphere. Enabling them to get a tremendous amount of love and individual, as well as group attention that they each so richly deserve. Receiving frequent and close contact, being snuggled from the earliest opportunity. Growing up among adults, children and a dog. Being so well socialized, they will seek out human companionship. Many owners of our kittens refer to them as "KIDDY CATS", not kitty cats because our cats love children so very much! Kittens from our cattery should easily blend into a family environment, but do not thrive in a home where they are left alone for endless hours, do not receive frequent kind attention and affection. Being bright cats, they need stimulus to keep their energies in a positive direction. Our goal is for quality and not quantity, so we only have a few precious bundles of fur to offer yearly. Offering the strongest, healthiest, most loving kittens possible - where all you need add is love. We strive to breed the original natural breed of TRADITIONAL & CLASSIC SIBERIAN CATS so a variety of traditional colors and patterns will be offered but specializing in SMOKES, SILVERS and SOLIDS. All colors with and without white. Having great love and respect for the Siberian Forest Cat breed, our desire is to have Forest Cat kittens as close to the Siberian Breed Standard as is possible. Our cats are descendants of many generations of champion bloodlines.
Our kittens are waiting to - Capture your Heart!
About Siberian Forest Cats and brief Siberian History :
The Siberian Cat is the national cat of Russia. Originating in Siberia. The breed has existed there for hundreds, if not thousands of years. It is a cat from which many fairy tales have been derived. The Siberian cat is an ancient medium-long haired breed believed to be the ancestor from which all modern day long-haired cats have evolved. Siberians are a muscular cat that likes high places and are powerful leapers. Their sharp wit and mucular bodies in able them to be good hunters. Being excellant mousers helped them to become popular in Russia. People would take their Siberian Cats with them when they moved. This helped to spread the breed thoughout Asia.
After living in the Siberia for many generations, over time it has developed a hardy constitution. In order to survive harsh conditions it developed a triple fur coat that is water resistant. Siberians are not true sheders, nor does their fur mat easily. Brushing them 1-2 times weekly should keep your Kitty in perfect tiptop condition. Because they don't readily shed, they will drop their coats twice yearly at the season change. At this time if not groomed matting can result. A bath and brushing should make this transition faster and easier for both you and your cat. We recommend a soft bristled brush, so as to not to injur kitty. A slow to develop breed, retaining their kitten personalities their whole life. An intelligent breed that thrives on interaction with their owners and other pets enabling it to be easily trainable. They love fresh running water and will drink from a running faucet, prefering it to drinking out of a water bowl.
The Siberian is the perfect addition to any home. With their gentle loving nature, well rounded personality, quiet voice and low maintenance, they easily adapt to almost any home situation. Getting along great with the whole family and readily accept the other household pets. They have a Dog-like devotion and personality. It is is not in their nature to be a standoffish or aloof with their families. They enjoy being with their human companions. Coming when called, following the household members around and somemore social cats even greet guests.
