Description of HEFNV - "The Ungroup":
This group, which we all now lovingly refer to as "The Ungroup," is simply a pooling of resources and information to help people find their way on their own homeschooling journey. The Ungroup does not endorse or promote any one particular methodology of learning or belief system. We are a diverse, independent group of unique folks who use "whatever works" for us. We each make the effort to find creative ways to meet our own needs and solve our own current "challenge." As we succeed in doing this, the natural result seems to be that we often help one another along the way in the process of helping ourselves. :)
I wanted to connect with the local homeschooling community (Venice/Sarasota area of SW Florida) and meet others, but did not want to become a group leader. I did not wish to undergo the stresses, distractions, nor experience the limitations and pitfalls that seem to accompany the more traditionally organized and structured support groups. Our family wanted to have the freedom to live and learn and come and go in our travels without the additional responsibilities of having to "run" a support group. So, "The Ungroup" was born and we succeeded in establishing a homeschooling support network that can sustain itself!
In "The Ungroup," there are no dues, committees, nor monies involved. There are no forms to fill out, no traditional-type organized meetings, etc. We simply join or unjoin by asking the current list of "unmembers" to either add on or delete our particular email address from their group list.
We keep in touch with one another via this simple, private group email list. If we want to plan an event or are going somewhere and wish for others to join us, we simply post out the information to the list. The list is also used as a means to share relevant information, resources, and to offer and encourage a network of support amongst us. It is not used for any other purpose. Nothing is expected of anyone and no one in any way has to give more than they wish to give to HEFNV - "The Ungroup." The Ungroup is interesting and ever-changing as it evolves into the sum total of all of its participating "unmembers."

HEFNV - "The Ungroup" Philosophy:
HEFNV - "The Ungroup" is a nonreligious based, all inclusive network for families who share the common bond of home based education and a love for their children, who are learning all the time.
This freethinking network is for people in the Venice/Sarasota, area of SW FL who embrace the diversity of all homeschooling philosophies and belief systems. Any events, activities, or field trips planned or participated in by "unmembers" are strictly on an individual basis and are not sponsored under the name of Home Educators Family Network of Venice - "The Ungroup."
If you wish to share support, educational resources, field trips, park days, etc., without the stress of needless bureaucracy or committees, this is the "ungroup" for you!
