Depending on demand, the following classes or private lessons may be available: Young Singers (elementary grades); Beginning Guitar; Recorder; Orchestra; Keyboard Classes, beginning and intermediate; Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Band; Preschool Music and Movement; Music Theory. In addition, private lessons will be available for piano, band instruments, orchestra instruments, guitar, singing, and music theory. In the event that there are not enough students for a class, private lesson or semi-private lesson prices will be charged.
The instructor and director is Judith A. Richardson, BA in Music Education, Master of Music; who has over 40 years of music teaching experience with all ages, preschool through college in both public schools and private teaching. She started Desert Dove School of Music in March 1995 and Casas Adobes Music Studios in 2001.
Financial Obligations: All new students pay a one-time enrollment fee of $15 ($10 each for two or more family members) plus lesson fees. Monthly class and lesson fees are due at the first class session each month. Late Fees may be charged after the first week. A $15 fee will be charged for insufficient fund checks. Students who are not continuing need to give notice the week before they discontinue lessons or there will be a charge for the next month’s lessons as well. Please call when a student will miss a lesson or needs to re-schedule. While there is no credit on the following month’s bill for missed private lessons, every effort will be made to make up the time lost with either longer lessons the next few weeks or appointments for make-up lessons. There are no make-up lessons for missed class lessons since the class was there even if the student was not.
Students may choose private lessons, semi-private instruction or classes, depending on the classes available. When class enrollment falls below the number needed for a class, private lesson prices go into effect. Bonus: Students currently enrolled in one class receive a $10 monthly discount for each new class they take.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Preschool Music and Movement: Interactive music classes for parents, children, and other family members. Games, songs, instrument exploration, pitch-matching, and rhythms for the whole family. Limit: 15 students and their families. Time and date, TBA $25/month if 4 or more families are enrolled) $35/month/family if two or more children in that family are enrolled. Private and semi-private prices apply for fewer than three families.
SINGING/MUSIC EXPLORATION: Songs and singing games for young students who want to enjoy group singing experiences, music exploration, beginning note reading, and improve their singing. Limit, 20 students. Time and Date TBA. $45 if five or more enrolled, or $60/month/family or for each student when the class is four or less. Fees depends on enrollment.
GUITAR: Basic guitar instruction for students Grade 5 or older. Students must provide their own guitars (preferably acoustic) and music stands and purchase instructional books (Jerry Snyder’s Basic Guitar Instructor, Volume I; Alfred’s Basic Guitar Method Book 1) and materials. Limit: 10 per class. Wednesdays, 6 p.m. $35/month if 5 or more enrolled; $45/month if 3 or 4 enrolled; $55/month if only two are enrolled. Private lessons available if there is no class.
Recorder: Recorder students will learn to play recorder through listening and music reading. Students must purchase their own recorders, music stands, and instruction booksTime and Date TBA.. $35/month if five or more are enrolled, $45 each if 3 or 4 enrolled. $ 60/month for two students.
KEYBOARD CLASSES: Class instruction to learn music reading and electronic keyboard technique. Students must have keyboards or pianos to practice at home and purchase instruction books: Alfred All-in-One, Book One for young beginners; Alfred Adult All-in-One, Book One for older beginners: Bastien Easy Classics for intermediate students.
