In the early 90's Cathryn quit her day job, bought a 1977 motorhome and left her hometown of Lancaster, California to pursue a career in the music business.  She was 24.  That decade she traveled, worked and lived in many places, including Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Jacksonville Beach, Florida; and Cleveland, Ohio.

While in Cleveland she began writing her own material and forming her first original band, JUNKQUEEN.  The group produced the debut CD "Yellow Boots" and had recorded much of the second album before disbanding in 1998.

Cathryn continued working on her music, collaborating with various artists in the Cleveland area.  During this time she co-founded and organized FemFest, a Lilith Fair- inspired annual showcase of Cleveland's female-fronted bands and solo performers, proceeds of which were donated to breast cancer research. Later that year, she compiled most of her recordings, including unreleased JunkQueen material onto "Coaster," a 16-song disc that earned her a nomination for singer/songwriter of the year by the Cleveland Free Times.

In late 1999, she began a tour with guitar player/vocalist Heather Gmucs, performing on street corners and open-mic nights across the country. The duo relocated to San Diego and formed JOAN'S along with Nancy Baldon on guitar, Big Vinny Crudo on Bass and Blackie Sanchez on Drums.

The Next San Diego project, 8ball RACK, was comprised of writing partner and guitar player/vocalist Matt Silvia, along with guitarist Clint Welch, bassist Drew Duff and drummer Dave French.  The band produced a 14 song CD, placed 2nd in the nation in the Hard Rock Cafe's battle of the bands and after 14 months of extensive live performing, disbanded.

Cathryn is currently performing with her band The Cathryn Beeks Ordeal.  In her spare time she hosts LISTEN LOCAL shows throughout San Diego to help expose the talented musicians who live there.
