Meet My Babies
Top left is Jarrett. As you can see he is a lot of fun to be around. As my sister, Linda said, "It looks like he is telling his brother a joke". Jarrett will be 3 September 22, 2000. He is happy go lucky unless he is very tired, or wants a "worm milkshake",(warm YooHoo).
The one on the right is Jarrett's big brother, Lawson, (13 months difference in their age). Lawson is the thinker and worrier. Bless his heart, he worries about everything. You don't dare tell him you are sick or you have hurt yourself. Two weeks later he will still be worrying about it. He never forgets anything. He wanted to know why I was in a wheelchair, then a couple of weeks later he wanted to know why I had legs. You don't use them, Nannie, why have them? He is such a delight to be around. He can carry on a conversation with you better than some adults I know. Lawson will be 4, August 16,2000. "If I had known Grandchildren were so much fun, I would have had them first". I know now why someone came up with that saying.
Middle left is Bud, he will be 11 in October 2000, he weighs about 25 pounds, and is just a big baby. Everyone is scared of him because he has a way of making you scared. Even my husband won't attempt to do anything to Bud, (like giving him medicine or bathing him). Even the Vet has in big letters WILD on his chart. He's not wild, he just wants everybody to think he is.
Bottom left is Recycle. I DID NOT give her that name! She just turned 8, July 2000. She is the small one in the bunch, she might weigh 8 pounds. But don't think she lets the big boys push her around, really it's the other way around. She can be very hateful and she don't take anything off the boys. I have been around her for 6 years now and she still doesn't like me. (I had Bud when my husband and I got married, and he had Recycle).
Bottom right is Buffy. Another 25 pounder. He will be 5, September 2000. We drove over 100 miles in a terrible storm to get him from a pet store. When we got him he had something wrong with one of his eyes. We took him to the vet and he did RK surgery on him 3 times, but he still lost his sight in that eye, but this has never bothered Buffy. See, Buffy doesn't think he is a cat. All cats I have ever had the pleasure meeting didn't want you to pet or bother them unless they wanted you to, not Buffy. He wants loving all the time. We have tried telling him he is not suupposed to act that way, but he won't listen.
Then last, but certainly not least is Smut, (I didn't name him either). Middle right. Smut weighs about 40 pounds, and is the biggest cat I have ever seen. We adopted him after his Human parents died. He was 14, March 2000. He is the talker, he tries his best to talk to you, and it's not just meowing. You can tell if he is making a statement or asking a question, but you just can't tell what the statement or question is.

Betty and Dave
I grew up in a very small town in Georgia. I have 3 older sisters -- Kathryn, Linda and Theresa and 2 younger brothers -- Danny and Daryl. When I was 2 I contacted polio. I spent a good part of my childhood in and out of hospitals. But because of 2 very good parents I learned I could do anything I set my mind to. They never treated me any different than my siblings. I really have to give my 2 older sisters credit too. They became mother and father to the others, because our mother had to spend so much time with me, and our daddy had to work so much. I am really gateful to them for not growing up to hate me. My greatest accomplishment is my beautiful daughter, Stephanie. I was told I would never have children, but people found out early in my life not to tell me I couldn't do something. I would prove them wrong everytime. In 1993, I entered and won the title of Ms. Wheelchair Georgia. I spent the next year traveling all over Georgia, speaking to different groups and organizations about people with disabilities. It was a year I will never forget. It was during this time I met my wonderful husband Dave.
Dave was born in Pennsylvania, (yes he's a Yankee). He has 2 younger sisters, Nancy and Kathy. His family moved to Vermont in 1971, where he attented college. Dave entered the Army in 1977 and was enlisted until 1991. At that time the doctors found a brain tumor, so he had to take a medical discharge. He was stationed at Fort Benning when he retired so he stayed in Georgia, (lucky for me). He went back to college and became a teacher in early childhood education.
I was in Columbus, Georgia on business. I had my daughter and my niece with me. We decided to go out that night so we went to a club called "Al Who's". That is where I met Dave. I had my niece go tell him I wanted to dance with him and the rest is history. We met on July 15,1994 and was married August 16,1994. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Things I Do
I am an avid Braves fan, so much so that I keep score on every game. I can give you stats on every player, and if there is something you want to know and I can’t come up with it off the top of my head I can go to a file and find it. I would probably make a very good scout.
I love to work in my yard. In the past it has always been hard working in the yard with a manual chair, but this year I got an electric chair, and now I can do everything I want to do in the yard. I have planted all kinds of flowers. I have also planted watermelons, cantaloupes, tomatoes, bell pepper, sweet banana pepper, and okra. I go out at least once a day to “check” on everything. I water twice a day, and do the weeding once a week.
I love to dance. Many people find it hard to believe a person in a wheelchair can dance, but as I said earlier, “You can do anything you set your mind to do”. My husband and I can slow dance like you wouldn’t believe.
I love doing ceramics, cross-stitching, and making stockings, but these are things I do in cold weather, when it is too bad to go out. When I do ceramics I especially like doing Indians. Usually the cross-stitching is of cats, and of course the stockings are for Christmas.
Speaking of Christmas, I LOVE decorating for Christmas. I decorate every room in my house.. I have at least one tree in every room, including the bathrooms. I even take my pictures off the walls and wrap them to look like presents and hang them back on the wall. I have over a 300 building village. My husband is in charge of setting it up every year. Some people ask me why I go to all the trouble, which to me is not any trouble, but the time it takes is worth it when my grandchildren come in and you can see the twinkle in their eyes as they try to see everything at one time. I always have an open house a few weeks before Christmas, and I invite people to come in and go through as many times as they want to, and I’ve had some tell me they have been through at least 3 times and see something different each time. I collect fishing Santa’s in memory of my daddy. My oldest sister said, I was the only person she has ever seen who looks for Christmas decorations year round.
Other things I like to do are, going to Six Flags and riding the roller coasters, and Thunder River, singing, reading, (especially Cassie Edwards), driving fast, swimming, listening to music, fishing, playing cards, bingo, staying up late, computer games, and flea markets and yard sales, especially if they have Christmas decorations for sale.
All things ARE possible through GOD!! God Bless You, and thank you for visiting my page.
