Chris Beekman

I am an anthropologist specializing in the archaeology of ancient Mesoamerica, particularly those areas north of Oaxaca and the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. My field research is currently focused in central Jalisco, in western Mexico, just a bus ride west of the state capital of Guadalajara. My research there has focused on the sociopolitical organization of the Teuchitlan Tradition and its successors in the Epiclassic (or ca. 300 B.C. - A.D. 1000).

Vitae
My academic resume, listing positions relevant to my career in anthropology, grants, publications, experience, etc. Includes links to publications and papers delivered at meetings, all in .pdf format.
Teaching
Course materials for classes. This includes past and current classes, and a statement of teaching philosophy.
Research
This section includes a discussion of the archaeology of Jalisco, organized by previous and ongoing research projects. Projects in which I am involved receive more attention, but only because I am the only one providing content at this point. This area includes links to articles, the websites of collaborators, maps of research areas, and progress updates. It is the fastest growing section of the site. Researchers interested in adding content or establishing links are welcome to contact me.
Personal
A little information on my wife Kathy and myself. This section is not very well developed and that may be for the best.
Links
Useful connections to websites relating to Jalisco, West and Northwest Mexican Archaeology, Anthropology, Biological Anthropology, Geology, Geography, and Art History. Includes links to the web pages of other researchers.

This site makes extensive use of *.pdf files.  Adobe Acrobat  to read them if you don't have it already.
