![]() Caldera de los Lobos is a Classic period site located close to the center of the Tequila valleys, along the southern slopes of the Volcan de Tequila. The most prominent of the archaeological remains here is a structure thought to be an elite residence. Its partial similarities to later U-shaped architecture suggests a relationship, but other forms of Epiclassic public architecture (sunken patios, large rectangular platforms) are without precedent. We might also draw a parallel to the Tecpan form known from the Basin of Mexico in the Postclassic and associated with local elites.
