Welcometo my little corner of the world wide web! I finally decided to learn some HTML and make a web page. It looks pretty generic now but I hope to change that as I learn more.So far this page is dedicated to Japanese animation, or "anime." The first anime I watched was Starblazers after school on TV. I didn't have any idea that Starblazers originated in Japan, but the animation, music and drama were much more compelling than any other cartoon I'd seen before. I've always been drawn to the visual aspects of anime. The character designs and detailed artwork are absolutely extraordinary, as well as the storylines. Most of my exposure to anime is still from TV, so it's pretty limited as the shows are geared toward the young male audience and are heavily edited and sanitized for American TV. So what's an otaku? It's someone who is more than enthusiastic about something, but obsessive or even fanatical. Otakus are generally looked down upon in Japanese society. However, in the U.S. people seem to take pride in being otakus. I don't consider myself as an anime otaku, but does anybody really admit to being obsessive? Enjoy your visit and feel free to e-mail me with any questions or comments. Sign the guestbook View the guestbook UpdateMarch 16, 2004 - A newly colored picture in the Inuyasha gallery.
My Fan ArtPlease choose a title below. Most of the drawings are of the anime that I taped from Cartoon Network. I chose a particular image, paused the VCR, sat in front of the TV and drew what I saw on the screen. People ask how I draw and color the way I do. I am not an artist and don't any formal art training, so all I can say is it takes a lot of patience and practice. As for coloring, I use the brush and fill tools, and just push colored pixels around. That isn't the best way to color, but it's all I know what to do with the graphics program.
