Yukino is a perfect model student in His and Her Circumstances. She is smart, pretty, and cultured. However, that perfection is only a facade over her real character. She lives only for the praise and adoration from her teachers and peers. Things are different in high school because there's competition from another student who is even better that she--Souichiro. She hates him from the start and plots against him to be number one. But she changes when he professes his love for her (pictured here). Eventually, she falls in love with him and learns that his perfection is also disguise. |

Yurika puts on her bedroom eyes for Akito, her love interest in Martian Successor Nadesico. She has proven her competence as captain of the spaceship Nadesico despite being a dimwit. It is interesting to note that characters in Nadesico are anime fans, and an anime featured within Nadesico was spunoff into its own series. |

The Rurouni Kenshin television series follows a wandering samurai--Kenshin Himura--during the peaceful Meiji era of Japan. Kenshin, a manslayer during the revolution which brought about the peace, has given up killing people. Now he uses his fighting skills to protect the innocent, but the spectres of his bloody past catch up to him and he must prevent himself from reverting to his old ways. His sword is a specially crafted reverse blade (notice the cutting edge is on the wrong side). |

"I want to be by your side." Van swoops down and rescues Hitomi. On a whim, I decided to rent the Escaflowne movie one day. Boy, was I in for a surprise! The artwork and animation are absolutely exquisite. No attention to even the smallest detail was sacrificed. The music score was also very moving. Comparisons are often made between the TV series and the movie. I hadn't seen the TV series, so I didn't have any pre-conceived notions or expectations about the movie. That's why I liked it so much. I just wish I had a bigger TV and better sound system for it! |

Lady Subaru is a player character in .hack//SIGN (pronounced "dot hack sign") who assists in adminstrating "The World," a virtual reality where people can log in and interact with one another. I could only stand watching a few episodes. From what I saw, this anime does not have a lot of action--it's mostly dialogue. The pacing is very slow, and I quickly lost interest. Maybe I'll give it another try with the reruns. |

"Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light!" The bungling villains of Pokemon, Jessie and James, along with Meowth (not pictured here), are always searching for rare Pokemon to steal. Pokemon characters are fairly simple in appearance, but I like them anyway. |
