About Me:

I was born and raised in Seattle and started drawing at a very early age. My first memory of drawing was when I was about five years old. On a rainy day I curled up on the floor and drew a picture of Native Americans watching a sailing ship land on their shores. From that moment on I realized what a powerful and emotional thing the drawing medium could be. I went through school drawing, painting and running track and cross country. When I started college I planned on becoming a graphic artist but fine art was such an interest and passion for me that I chose it as my major. It was perhaps one of those perfect choices in life because it was then that I met and began working with my friend and mentor, Glen Alps, the pioneer printmaker and sculptor who inspired me to develop my desire to draw and create art of all kinds. After traveling through Europe trying to "absorb as much art as possible." I completed my BFA degree and graduated from the University of Washington in 1987. Recently I've been working in the pen and ink medium and a method called pointillism or stippiling which is drawing a series of lines and dots to create tone and volume. The method is very time consuming but the results are often stunning. Some favorite subjects are of houses, wildlife, portraits and classic automobiles. I hope that when you look at my drawings you will be able to see the passion I have for my subjects and for the art of drawing itself. A while ago someone asked me how long it took me to do one of my drawings. I hesitated for a moment and then realized that it has taken me all my life to do each drawing. Things that I began to learn as a child are still being perfected today so in a way I started all my drawings on that rainy day when I curled up on the floor and took a pencil in my hand. Many of my prints are available on my eBay auction site. Please visit the links to get an idea of the kind of work done with this technique. If you are interested in having a commission work done of your house, classic automobile or both together, please visit the other pages for more information or e-mail me at: Chris@ChrisParent.com
