ENTERTAINMENT __________________________________________________________________________________ Modern dance to mellow rock on stage in Burtonsville
Guitarist Chuck Durfor started off his musical career with the trumpet when he was 8 but, as he puts it, "just couldn't 'triple tongue'." By age 12 he had moved on to the tuba, which held an advantage because he could "hold my lunch in the bell." Alas, neither of thise instruments became life long favorites, but he soon found one that was - the guitar. Today, with 25 years of experience and a reputation as one the region's finest "fingerstyle" guitarists, Durfor is set for a return engagment to this Burtonsville Day Celebration with a concert at 1:15 PM - one of seven filing two stages at Columbia Park. From hard rock to puppets, concert band to modern dance, the enterainment for Burtonsville Day is certain to appeal to every taste and every style...... Chuck Durfor will be onstage two at 1:15 p.m. A resident of Rockville who has performed more than 200 concerts in the past 2 years, Durfor describes his style as a blend of original compositions, country blues, and British folk/jazz. He has toured from Maine to Virigina and last year released his debut recording, "Fallen/ Forgotten," which contains nine original fingerstyle guitar compositions and four additional songs. The CD pairs him with soprano saxophonist/flutist, Howard Burns and WAMMIE award-winning vocalist Connie McKenna.
