MATERIALS: J. & P. COATS' Six Cord MERCER-CROCHET (BLUE LABEL). Size 20: 1 ball of White or 2 of Ecru for set of four.

STEEL CROCHET HOOK No. 9 or 10.

Completed doily measures about 5-1/4 inches in diameter.

Ch 8. join with sl st to form ring, 1st rnd: Ch 5, d tr in ring, (ch 4, 2 d tr in ring) 5 times; ch 4, join with sl st in top st of 1st ch-5 made.

2nd rnd: Ch 1, se in same place as sl st, ch 2, sc in next d tr, * ch 4, sc in next d tr, ch 2, sc in next d tr. Repeat from * around, joining last ch-4 to 1st sc.

3rd rnd: Ch 5, * in next ch-2 sp make d tr, ch 3, 2 d tr, ch 3 and d tr; d tr in next sc, ch 3, d tr in next sc. Repeat from * around, joining last ch-3 to top st of 1st ch-5 made.

4th rnd: Sl st to center of next ch-3 sp, ch 3, * in next ch-3 sp make dc, ch 3 and dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, join.

5th rnd: Ch 6, in same place as sl st make dc, ch 3 and dc, * ch 3, sc between next 2 dc, ch 3, between next 2 dc make 3 dc with ch 3 between. Repeat from * around, join last ch-3 to 3rd st of 1st ch made. 6th rnd: Sl st in next sp, ch 5, d tr in same sp, * ch 3, 2 d tr in next sp, ch 9, skip ch 3, sc and ch 3, 2 d tr in next sp. Repeat from * around. Join and turn.

7th rnd: Sl st in ch 9, turn. Ch 1, sc inl same place as sl st, * ch 3, in next ch-3 sp, make (dc, ch 3 and dc) twice; ch 3, sc in next ch-9, ch 6, sc in same ch-9. Repeat from * around, joining last ch-6 to 1st sc made.

8th rnd: Sl st to 1st dc, ch 10, sc in same dc, * ch 3, between next 2 dc make 3 dc with ch-3 between, ch 3, sc in next dc, ch 5, d tr in same dc, ch 3, d tr in next dc, ch 5, sc in same dc. Repeat from * around, joining last ch-3 to 5th st of ch-10 first made.

9th rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in next ch, * (ch 5, 2 d tr in next sp) 4 times; ch 5, sc in top of ch-5, sc in next d tr, ch 2, sc in next d tr, sc in top of ch-5. Repeat from * around, joining last ch-2 to 1st sc. Fasten off.
