Dr. Frederic Whitehurst holds a B.S. in Chemistry, a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a Juris Doctorate degree. He also spent 16 years as an FBI Special Agent from 1982 to 1998. During his FBI career he investigated criminal matters in the FBI offices in Houston, Sacramento and Los Angeles from 1982 to 1986 and then from 1986 to 1998 he was assigned to the FBI laboratory in Washington, D.C. where he conducted chemical analyses of forensic evidence. Whitehurst is presently the Executive Director of the Forensic Justice Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to quality work product in the forensic sciences.

Dr. Whitehurst is available for litigation consultation and trial testimony throughout the U.S. and the world. He also provides pro-bono training lectures dealing with forensic issues to civic, educational and legal organizations.
Dr. Whitehurst maintains an extensive collection of records concerning forensic issues as well as an extremely large number of FBI laboratory reports spanning the period from 1972 to 1997. Information in these records is available for educational purposes, journalists, as well as in post conviction relief litigation. Dr. Whitehurst has also scanned into computer format the report and supporting work product of the U.S. Department of Justice Inspector General's 1993-1997 investigation into allegations of wrongdoing within the FBI laboratory. This information is available on CD-rom in an Adobe Acrobat searchable format and can be acquired from the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in Washington, D.C. at (202) 872-8600. The information is a must-have resource for attorneys, students of law, journalists and others interested in understanding and determining the quality of forensic work product.
