Hi! I am a retired college chemistry instructor, with a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry and a minor in theoretical physics. I have taught general, analytical, and physical chemistry for 32 years at a prestigious midwestern liberal arts college. I taught the honors first year chemistry lecture and laboratory for many years, and created many innovative experiences for the students in both.
Though retired, I still enjoy helping students. This web site is one way of doing that. I am willing to answer email questions from students, and will do so daily. It is also possible to set up tutoring sessions using Instant Messages for students having difficulty with certain material. These are arranged through email contact.
I have also written a set of 43 programs called CHEMCAI, covering a full year of first year college or advanced high school chemistry. These programs have tutorial sections, and numerous questions. All answers are checked, with immediate feedback. The student is shown what if any errors were committed and how to do the problem or answer the question, with reasons why where appropriate. Some sample screens from the programs are included below.
The programs are written in basic, for DOS, but work well under Windows, including Windows 98. They were begun in the late 1970s. If interested, please send an email. The programs are basically free; I charge $5 to cover shipping and handling, and you must send three new 3.5" HD diskettes.
