Welcome to the home of Ron Cheruka, The Egg Man, where you'll find carved, sculpted and filigree eggs from goose, duck, ostrich, emu, rhea and more. Native American scenes, wolves, eagles, horses, birds, lighthouses, unicorns, and many other designs and scenes all carved in every type of eggshell.
Please take the time to wander through my site and see all I have to offer, When you are done, please sign my guest book and let me know what you think of my work and any suggestions you might have. I do appreciate all comments, both good and bad,
afterall, it's your comments that make me strive to do better on every egg I carve.

All eggs are cut by hand using a high speed handpiece that spins at over 400,000 RPM's. Both dental burs and sanding discs are used in the carving and sculpting.

The ostrich eggs are both carved and sculpted giving them much more detail then just carving alone. I always strive to make my designs as natural looking as possible.

Carving something as delicate as an egg shell might look a little strange
when done by someone like myself, afterall, wouldn't it be more suited to
a womans gentle touch. But then,I've always enjoyed a challenge and the
satisfaction I receive when I look at an egg I just finished is well worth the
many hours it can take to complete some of my designs. I really like the
detail I can get into my ostrich and rhea eggs but also love doing the emu eggs-basically,they are an Austrailian ostrich. These eggs have three
distinct layers in their egg shells and they are each a different color. In
fact, many folks who see my eggs at the numerous art and craft shows I
do often think the designs are painted on,not carved.

The rhea eggs are also carved and sculpted but being a lot thinner than an ostrich, the detail can not be brought out by sculpting alone. Here I carve into, but not through, the egg shell and use a light box to bring out and emphasize the detail. I like using a lightbox under a lot of my eggs for that reason and a lot of my goose and duck eggs are cut in a manner where any light hitting the shell will make the cut out areas stand out.

Although I enjoy carving and sculpting exotic eggs from the ostrich family,I must confess I truly love doing Filigree cutting on the smaller eggs-like goose, duck and pheasant. This is truly a challenge since just holding an egg that is almost finished is a task in itself but the satisfaction one gets when it is finished is something else. I enjoy making that shell look as fragile as possible and have often heard the comment that the only thing holding it together is air. I guess that's why I keep telling myself
" The more you cut out,the less there is to break."

What I call my standard eggs are duck and goose eggs
that I cut in much the same pattern as a stencil. These
come in a large number of designs (flowers, birds,
animals, scenes, etc. ) and are my most popular sellers.
I also carve goose and duck eggs in the same manner
as my rhea and ostrich and a lot of the designs are
available on most eggs.
