" Filigree Style Eggs "
Filigree style cutting is definitely my favorite and I really enjoy trying to get my cuts as close as possible. I also strive to make them as smooth as possible and one trick I've learned ( especially for smaller eggs like duck and pheasant ) is to dull the bur before cutting filigree. I'll do this by using it on a larger egg first. This removes any rough edges and makes the bur cut a little slower but a lot less agressively. I also roll all of my new burs on a sheet of glass to check for straightness and then final test them in the handpiece by just barley touching a thumb nail while it's spinning. All of my filigree work is sealed in glass domes to prevent accidental breakage from a careless fingertip.

A lot of the above designs are just to fragile to take a chance on shipping so please contact me before ordering to see if your choice can be shipped. If it can't, I am usually able to get it to you by other means, it just might take a little longer. Also, since each design is individually carved freehand and without the use of any pattern or guide lines, your egg could vary slightly from those shown..
There are also a few rhea egg filigree to be found on my Rhea Eggs page.
