The Welsh language is categorised as a "P Celtic" (also known as Brythonic or British) language, which is entirely different from Gaelic divisions. It shares this category along with the Cornish and Breton languages. The Scottish, Irish, and Manx languages are known as "Q Celtic" languages (also known as Goidelic or Gaelic).
Below are a few examples of these languages, which when compared with each other side by side show striking similarities between them. In many instances, there is as much as a 60% crossover between them.
Though Scottish, Irish and Manx are categorised as Celtic languages they do not hold much in common with the "P Celtic" languages.
