APRILIA RSV Mille R
The APRILIA RSV Mille R is a technological gem, fruit of the same design philosophy guiding development of the SP. An important result in terms of design and construction, making the RSV Mille R a new standard setter among competitors, a perfectly balanced mix of quality, technology, components and finish at an absolutely competitive price.

ENGINE
The APRILIA RSV Mille R engine benefits from the new technical systems and modifications designed for the RSV Mille "Year 2000 Model", with specific mapping. A series of improvements have been introduced to the powerful and reliable longitudinal 60° V twin engine with four valves per cylinder timing and double cam shaft in the cylinder head, controlled by a mixed chain and gear system , increasing efficiency, range of use and performance. An exclusive characteristic is the new stainless steel oil tank to guarantee seal, quality and reliability even in the most extreme conditions. Considerable work has also been invested in the transmission, with the addition of a riveted link for extra safety, given the extreme use to be expected of a machine designed for track use. The clutch assembly has been completely reviewed and improved. As well as new aeronautical style metal braid tubing, the new disks are made from a different friction material from the one used previously to help improve efficiency, working life and technical characteristics. The pressure on the spring has also been lightened, reducing the resistance on the clutch lever and thus making it easier to use.

CHASSIS
A constant in this specialist version is the splendid double beam frame in box-type aluminium alloy, a mechanical jewel which has characterised the Aprilia twin since its first appearance. Through linkages, the exclusive differentiated arm rear swingarm actions a professional Ohlins Racing single shock absorber with piggy-back nitrogen cylinder (separate and incorporated in the body), adjustable in extension, compression, preload and length in order to raise or lower the rear of the motorbike according to the preferred trim, rider's preferences and other adjustments made. The Ohlins Racing line in fact represents one of this motorbike's new reference parameters. As in the SP version, these exclusive and professional components, produced and set according to Aprilia specifications, characterise and enhance the high quality standard. The upside-down front suspension, Ohlins Racing of course, has 43 mm diameter sleeves treated with titanium nitride to improve smoothness. Wheel travel is 120 mm. The external system for adjusting damping, rebound, compression and preload is fast and efficient.

COMPONENTS
This exclusive APRILIA RSV Mille R version stands out for the care and attention paid to even the smallest component and part. Attention which has enabled performance, feeling and ridability to be increased, while reducing weight and considerably improving the quality and finish of the product. The new petrol tank is made from special resins. A precise choice which has made it possible to considerably reduce the weight of the tank. This is an excellent material for track use as it is more resistant than metal to small knocks, scratches, etc. The adjustable steering damper, again from the Ohlins Racing specialist line, fitted as standard has an exclusive double chamber configuration. Carbon elements make this motorbike even lighter and high quality. The dashboard cover and front and rear mudguards are produced in this high technology and exclusive material. The new and exclusive RSV Mille R wheels deserve special mention. This is one of the distinctive, exclusive and specific elements of this motorbike. In collaboration with OZ, Aprilia designed and developed the wheels with the specific aim of producing the best aluminium wheel for a high performance motorbike. To satisfy the ambitious objectives set by Aprilia in terms of weight and rigidity, the best available materials and production techniques were used. The wheel is made from Anticorodal 5051 forged aluminium using a forging press with a power of 8000 tons. This technology (known and applied to date only in the Formula One, Formula Sport and Rally world and similar) enables production of wheels free from porosity - a possible defect during casting - and made from material with exceptional mechanical characteristics. The weight saving is exceptional: about 25% less for each wheel compared to the lightest wheel on the market using the more traditional cast aluminium technology.
