FORT WAYNE TRANSIT INFORMATION
Official Web site of the Fort Wayne Public Transportation Corporation.In 1968, the Fort Wayne Public Transportation Corporation became responsible for all transit lines in the Fort Wayne area. The last streetcars ran in 1947.
FORT WAYNE TRANSIT HISTORY
In 1872, the Citizens Street Railroad Co. introduced horse car service in Fort Wayne. For many years, the streetcar system was part of the Indiana Service Corporation, which also operated interurban lines in the area.

TRANSIT ROUTES - PAST AND PRESENT
Many of today's bus routes in Fort Wayne have histories which can be traced back to streetcars, and even horse cars.

FORT WAYNE TRANSIT FACILITIES
In 1925, the Indiana Service Corporation completed its Spy Run carhouse and shops at 2101 Spy Run Av., on Fort Wayne's north side, consolidating and replacing several older facilities. The Baker Street carhouse, on Fort Wayne's south side, remained in use until 1930.In 1954, Fort Wayne Transit replaced the Spy Run facility with a new bus garage at 801 Leesburg Road, on Fort Wayne's west side. This garage continues to be used by the Fort Wayne Public Transportation Corporation.
