ZORRO
_______________________________
Guy Williams, Bonanza's cousin Will Cartwright, was previously the caped crusader of old Spanish California. Dashing and daring, Zorro was
big stuff like Davy Crockett in the 50s.

Topps trading cards 1958
Philadelphia-based Topps really was tops in trading cards, they made pretty much every cool TV show into gum card sets. For all the hubbub over baseball cards, I was always a fan of TV show cards instead: Batman, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Partridge Family. There are 88 cards in the Zorro set that follow the story arc of the first season.

Here's the waxed paper wrapper for the Zorro cards. Like so many 'throwaway' items, not many of these have survived throught the years.

Zorro Big Golden Book 1958
A super-sized soft cover storybook with beautiful painted illustrations, like the Little Golden Book only bigger. Found at a local ephemera emporium for a measly three dollars, as sharp as the day it was made. Excellente!

Zorro View-Master reels 1958
There are several different envelopes for this set- including a large size version that was issued in Europe -but the reel pictures are all the same. Viewmaster reels are some of my favorite childhood artifacts. The dimensional effect is so much fun and you get a good close look at some great shows and characters.

Walt Disney's Magazine 1958
A super neat Zorro cover as Diego de la Vega sees his alter-ego reflected! Inside is a great serialized story plus an on-the-set feature with Henry Calvin as the bumbling but loveable Sergeant Garcia.
