John J. Steger started slinging mud in Milwaukee, WI at the end of 1998 when he opened Riverwest Potteryworks. After working in the Milwaukee area for two years, Riverwest Potteryworks moved to it's new home in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Riverwest Potteryworks is owned and operated by John, a one man mud slinger livin' the dream.
Every piece of stoneware produced at Riverwest Potteryworks is individually thrown on the potters wheel by John himself. John takes great pride in his work and personally selects all the materials used from the clay to the glazing. Each piece is finished with a foot, then signed and dated. As a side note, starting in the year 2000, each piece is marked with the animal spirit of the Chinese Year.
Currently his work can be seen at art fairs around the Midwest. He takes pride not only in his work but also in presentation and customer satisfaction.
