Suddenly there appeared a star,
Known to some, not to all,
The star of Bethlehem,
The star of the Baby Jesus.

It's brilliance was beyond compare,
The brightest of them all shown there,
Within the Northern sky,
Guiding men to follow by.

Appeared the angel on the hill,
Bringing forth hope; good will,
the news of Jesus; Son of God,
Follow the star to praise him.

There went the wise men,
And shepards too,
To see the child,
Bringing gifts and jewels.

But special of them all was he,
The drummer boy who went to see,
And offering no gold or jewels,
He played his drum; his only tool.

He gave the baby a gift well known,
Unselfish love, all his own,
With his heart, a part of his soul,
A gift so humble. A gift so bold.

Often in the hustle and bustle of Christmas, we forget what is truly important. Please understand, the drummer boy is not a real person in the bible. Though he is not real, we can still learn from him. The gift he gave was his time, his love, and his talent, according to this story. We get so "wrapped up" in the wrapping and the gift, that we forget one very important thing. When giving, it is the intent of the heart that is truly important. For the heart is what God sees. Make sure, this Christmas, that your intent is pure. The gift is of no matter, the heart is of the most important matter.

Have a blessed holiday. Please feel free to use the links provided below. Some are of other Christmas poems. One is just a favorite site of poetry ~ the woman truly has a gift. The last is my other site. Hope you have enjoyed your visit.
