About Us
Our names are Bob and Bobbie Clinton. We're from the midwest in the USA. Bob was a public school district superintendent in Wisconsin until July 31, 1999. Bobbie had her own home-based business. Currently we're living in Kathmandu (Patan), Nepal. We're studying the Nepali language and culture. We hope to be able to use our education and skills to help the poor of Nepal have a better future.

UPDATE
Bob's is continuing to study Nepali with the help of tutors at L.O.P. He'll begin studying at Tribhuvan University in July. Bobbie has been studying with the help of a language tutor who comes to our home three days a week. Nepali is much easier than Chinese to learn since it doesn't have tones and it has an alphabet. We're both learning to speak and as well as write/read. We're better at sounding out written words than knowing their meanings. Our vocabulary continues to expand daily. We've been exposed to four verb tenses, which we're trying to learn, and can now use 13 different sentence structures.
We'll be enjoyed a visit from Bob's brother, Tom, a few days before Christmas. He'll returned to the states on Dec. 20. We'll showed him around Patan, Kathmandu and Pokhara and introduced him to our many new friends.
Our son, Tim surprised Bobbie by arriving for Christmas the day Tom left! She was speechless and kept saying...."I can't believe you're really here!"
We hired a Nepali gardener a couple of days per week to get the yard work under control. He's been doing a very good job and has taught us a few words in the process.

Our Interests
We enjoy walking and exploring our new environment together. We love trying out new restaurants. We've discovered a delightful snack called chicken sekuwa. It's a little bit spicy hot, but delicious.
Bob enjoys sports and is beginning to get familiar with the rules of cricket. He misses American football and basketball. (The Monday night football games were sometimes broadcast on the cable channel ESPN here at 5am Tue. morn. But he hasn't felt the need to get up that early to actually see if it's true.) Bob is also interested in the educational system of Nepal. Perhaps his skills of administration can be helpful here as well.
I am interested in Nepali cooking, handicrafts and sewing. I have met several people who are willing to assist me in teaching women a marketable skill which will enable them to provide a living for their families.
Our latest project is helping an orphanage get a couple of rooms painted and carpeted. We will be bringing several boxes of handmade wooden toys, games, Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls from the states in March.
