HISTORY
In 1990, John Carlton Myatt was a rising Junior at the University of North Carolina @ Charlotte when he was drowned while diving with fraternity brothers at a lake in Salisbury, North Carolina. He had just completed his sophomore year at UNC-C on a North Carolina Teaching Fellowship which allows a student to receive a four year education in exchange for 3 years of teaching in the NC school system after graduation. John was a gifted communicator, 6'-5" athletic, and a very creative writer.
After his death, a scholarship fund was established using Duke Power Company stocks set aside by his grandparents, Harvey and Maxine Ljung of Greensboro, NC for his graduate school work.
A graduating senior in selected Guilford County High Schools is chosen each year to receive funds for freshman books and tuition costs at his/her college. The selected student must have demonstrate strong and creative writing skills and the ability to affect society with those skills.

Amy is now Amy Bruner de Rodriguez, partner of Carlos Roriguez from Argentina. They live in Asheville where designs custom jewelry from her shop in downtown Asheville. Congratulations, AMY!
